Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a tower. The tower was very tall and covered in bright, shiny jewels and gold that reflected the sun into the eyes of passing travelers. Some passing princes would think that maybe there was a princess inside, but they could not see her in the window because of the gleaming walls. The girl, however, could see everyone who passed because they were so illuminated. Sometimes she would think that one of them was coming closer to save her, but they were only ever thieves, trying to pry precious gems from the stonework. The girl mourned these gems, but as time passed she came to be grateful for the loss. For, having less reflective bits of rare metals and shiny bobbles on her tower allowed the passing travelers to come closer.
